The key difference is that we have developed cutting edge technology platform that now makes it possible for retail investors to invest in high quality commercial property deals that have typically not been made available to retail investors.

Amar Nijjar
Founder & CEO

Amar is responsible for strategic direction, business development, operations, and sits on R2's Board of Directors and Investment Committee. Amar has funded over $10 billion and underwritten over $30 billion of real estate during his career. Up until recently Amar was an Executive Vice President at JLL (formerly Jones Lang LaSalle), where he headed the Debt Capital Markets group. Amar has an undergraduate degree in Chemical Engineering and holds an MBA from York University's Schulich School of Business. In 2014, he founded www.educate-kids.org; a charity that supports under privileged children in Developing countries. He also sits on the board of Commercial Real Estate Lenders Association (www.crela.ca) and is an advisor to National Crowd Funding Association of Canada (www.ncfa.org)

Chad Gemmell
Co-Founder & COO

Chad is the Chief Compliance Officer of Real Crowd Capital and is licensed to trade in securities. He is responsible for strategic direction, business development, operations, and sits on R2's Board of Directors and Investment Committee. Chad has transacted over $5 billion of real estate during his career. Up until recently Chad was a Vice President at JLL (formerly Jones Lang LaSalle), where he was co-head of the Debt Capital Markets group along with Amar. Chad holds an MBA from NSYSU and an undergraduate degree in finance from Lakehead University. He has also lived and worked in Asia for 2 years. He is an avid cyclist and a top ranked squash player at TAC. He has two fury babies - Tuk Tuk and Kaya. He is also involved with CRELA and Educate cause.

Garret MacGillivray
Chief Technology Officer

Garret leads the e-marketing and technology initiatives for the R2 platform as well as for the internal applications that support deal underwriting and due diligence. Prior to R2, Garret was a part of the JLL Debt Capital Markets group and also an appraiser with one of Canada’s top private appraisal companies. Garret applies his extensive knowledge of real estate with a deep understanding of technology to the R2 platform. Garret holds an undergraduate degree in accounting from Carleton University. He is also a Dealing Representative for the firm and is licensed to trade in securities. Garret's core strengths are in the field of big data which is a significant force in how we conduct our business at R2.

Hovsep Seraydarian
VP, Software Design

Hovsep is the VP of Software Design and his team of 12 software engineers and coders works closely with our IT, infrastructure and senior management team to implement R2's technology platform. He is also responsible for maintaining and developing R2’s technology, software and infrastructure. Hovsep has successfully completed over 200 technology projects in the past ranging from small to large scale assignments for companies like Sears and Hudson's Bay, Georgian College, Pomegranate Film Festival, Today’s Concepts and others. He is a Computer Science Engineer by education and is ultimately responsible for our back end code and data management.

Sim Manocha
Director - Investments

Sim is responsible for building and managing relationships with developers and providing a thorough underwriting of commercial real estate asset opportunities. Sim was an Associate at JLL Debt Capital Markets group up until recently and prior to that he worked with Avison Young and graduated from the Ivey Business School, where he served as the co-Founder/President of the Ivey Real Estate Club. Aside from real estate, he enjoys spending time with his dog Biggie and has been actively involved in the community as a competitive soccer coach.

Daljeet Dhanesar
Manager - Investment Sales

Daljeet joined the team at R2 with years of experience in financial sales, client relations, and business development. He has a decade long stint in Private Wealth Management and has worked with large Indian Conglomerates like Aditya Birla group and ICICI . Daljeet holds undergraduate degree in Commerce and has an MBA. He prides himself on his attention to detail and his passion for development and progress. He constantly strives to foster strong client relations while leaving a lasting positive impact on all whom he does business with.

Ziad Nassar
Analyst

A graduate of Wilfrid Laurier University’s Economics & Finance program, Ziad joined R2 to support the firm’s debt capital market initiatives. While at Laurier, Ziad worked a number of co-op terms in both the public and private sectors, in addition to serving as a Co-President of the Laurier Investment and Finance Association. His co-op terms included Analyst positions with: an Ontario Ministry, a technology start-up, and a real estate & infrastructure private equity firm. During his undergrad, Ziad took part in an international exchange program, where he studied Property in Sydney, Australia.

Alexandra Reynolds
Office Manager

Alexandra is R2's office manager. She is a dedicated professional with a strong administrative background and supports all aspects of R2’s business. In the past she has worked in the healthcare industry as Director of Operations for a large health care business, Head hunter with Huntex, Admin assistant at St. Michael’s hospital, social worker at The Stone-Ashbridge Family and Editor in Chief of Between the Pages. She holds a psychology degree from Acadia University.

Omar Castillo Zavala
Business Development Manager

Omar is responsible for seeking investment opportunities as well as direct senior debt opportunities in the Caribbean market. His previous work experiences includes working at Turner Construction in Washington D.C. Afterward, he joined his family business where he leads the business development process to create real estate deals for investors. Omar is a Civil Engineer from Utah State University. He also studied at the prestigious University INSA de Lyon in France. Omar is the recipient of the NAIOP Developer Leader Award 2016.

Param Nijjar
Business Development Manager

Param holds a B.Eng degree in Electronics from UBC Vancouver and with over ten years of experience in real estate sales, construction and property management, and an education in software engineering (UBC 2005, Dean's Honour List), he brings a thorough and wide understanding of real estate and technology to the R2 team. Param has been actively involved in the community by volunteering for organizations, such as Vancouver Board of Trade (awarded Mentee of the Year in Leaders of Tomorrow program), Entrepreneurs International Organization and Habitat for Humanity to name a few.

Aaron Meckler
Manager - Investment Sales

Aaron is an expert in complex Corporate Finance transactions and Investment Management with years of experience in Public Markets, Institutional FX and Private Equity Markets. He has raised millions for 30 different Limited Partnerships and plays an integral role in R2's due diligence process when it comes to structuring deals with Issuers and Reviewing their offering documents. Owning a portfolio of Multi-Family properties, he brings his personal and professional experiences to the table. He is also pursuing an international MBA from Edinburgh Business School as well as the Chartered Investment Manager (CIM) designation. In his free time, Aaron enjoys travelling and spending time with family.

Ben Feferman
Manager - Investment Sales

Ben brings a wealth of experience in investment sales, venture capital and business management. In joining the R2 team, Ben will be focusing on building diversified real estate portfolios for new investors, uniquely catering to their investment objectives and risk profiles. His holistic approach to private wealth management has helped hundreds of investors realize their investment goals through private equity and real estate. Ben holds an undergraduate degree in law and is pursuing both his MBA and CIM designations. Out of the office Ben enjoys chasing after his kids, listening to podcasts and is training to run his first marathon.

Harry (Harjit) Dhaliwal
VP – Strategic Initiatives

Former Citizenship Judge Harry(Harjit) Dhaliwal is a business professional with a progressive and diverse set of experiences of owning small businesses, consultations, community services and civic involvements. His past involvements include: Past President of Erin Mills Lions Club, served on United way board, Founding member of International Punjabi Chamber of Commerce, Member of Arts Review Task Force in City of Mississauga, Chair of Children’s Wish Maker’s Parade in Peel.

Justin Genest
Manager - Investment Sales

Justin Brings over 5 years of experience in public and private markets, as well as business development. Justing has a focus on a client first approach by navigating clients real estate investment needs, as well as there overall portfolios & wealth management needs. Justin holds a diploma in real estate and has worked in Commercial real estate prior to his service in public and private markets On his off time Justin serves his community as a soccer coach and acts as a mentor and tutor for an inner city youth group.

Gagan Sobti
Analyst

Gagan holds an HBA degree and is a graduate of the Richard Ivey Business School’s Honours Business Administration program where he focused on finance. Prior to joining R2 Gagan was a research analyst for the Government of Canada. He prides himself on his communication skills and analytical ability. In his free time he enjoys boxing and cooking and doing volunteer time with local charities.
